Overview
The City of Kimberly water supply is derived from the Snake River Plain Aquifer and is pumped from 6 different deep wells. This water flows through various forms and fishers of rock deep within the ground and is of great quality. One of the underlying issues of this type of water is varying degrees of hardness.
Causes
Hard water refers to the amount of two minerals, calcium and magnesium, in the water. These minerals can prevent soaps from lathering or creating suds. Therefore cleaning with the water was considered hard or difficult.
Water containing very little calcium or magnesium is called soft water.
Results
Some people like the way their hair and skin feel when using soft water. Others do not like soft water because they feel the soap will not rinse off. People with hard water may notice white deposits or scales on dishes, cooking pots, or coffee makers.
