Planning and Zoning performs a variety of services intended to protect, maintain, and develop an attractive, safe, and healthy environment. Primary functions address property development and land use activities occurring in the City.
The Planning and Zoning Commission acts as a recommending body on applicable land use applications such as annexations, subdivisions, and amendments to the zoning code Title 17 compliant with the goals, objectives, and policies of the Comprehensive Plan and Zoning Ordinances adopted by the City Council.
The Planning Administrator is responsible for the orderly development of the City, grant writing, economic development, administrator of Kimberly's Zoning Ordinance, Comprehensive Plan, building department, design review ordinances, sign code, and fence permits.
