Enjoy this fun fact from your local University of Idaho Extension Master Gardener Program…
In 2014, the 58 Magic Valley Master Gardener volunteers donated more than 2,500 hours educating and growing great communities. They hosted diagnostic clinics in their respective counties and provided answers to over 1,900 plant, insect, weed and general landscaping questions. Master Gardeners also beautified and strengthened our communities through their service projects. Here are a few examples of their excellent work:
• Installed the landscape for the Habitat for Humanity “Blitz Build” community project
• Organized, distributed information, and collected food for Ample Harvest (Gardeners sharing their harvest with local Food Banks)
• Maintenance of a Penstemon (Native wildflower species) demonstration garden
• Community classes, in part with local library and nursery programs, for both youth and adults
• Taught multiple classes at summer and migrant school gardens
• Assisting at the Hagerman FFA teaching greenhouse
• Organizing church landscape projects; and other community educational and beautification projects.
