1. How do I report animal problems in my area?

If you live in the Kimberly City limits please call (208) 423-4151 to report problems.

2. What do I do when a dog bites?

Contact your family doctor or go to the appropriate medical facility for treatment.

Call Kimberly City Animal Control at (208) 423-4151 or the Police Department at (208) 735-1911.

If the animal is wild, Animal Control officers will set a trap. If the animal is domesticated, Animal Control officers will check with the owner to determine if the animal is current on its rabies vaccination.

If the animal is not current on its rabies vaccination, it will be transported to a licensed vet for a 10-day observation. If the animal has to be killed, the head will need to be sent off for rabies testing.

Twenty five fee (25') from property line abutting road/roads. Seven (7') from side property. Ten (10') from rear property.

The fencemust be on your property. A fence permit is required prior to installing a fence. There is no charge for the fence permit application. 2-3 days prior to issuance

4. How high can my fence be?

On the side and rear or property it can be minimum of six (6') feet (anything over must be engineered stamped). Front yard can only be a maximum of three (3') feet high.

5. Do I need a permit for a shed?

No, if it is less than 200 sq. ft. We ask that you contact the P & Z Department regarding setbacks from property lines before constructing or placing the shed.

6. I am a general construction contractor, am I required to register?

All general (construction) contractors are required to be registered/licensed with the State of Idaho.

1. When does the City begin the budget process?

The City budget process starts in March and ends usually the end of August with a public hearing when the council has finished going through the financials to ensure that budgetary needs for each department are being met and that the budget is balanced. The Mayor and Department Heads work together through all aspects of the budget. The process then revolves around tying out the revenues and expenses. There are several budget workshops with the Council where the proposed budget is presented to them. The Council and staff work through this process over several months and by August the Council will be ready to adopt the budget for the subsequent year.

1. What is an abandoned or unserviceable vehicle and why are they considered to be a violation of City Codes?

The Kimberly Ordinance describes an unserviceable vehicle as any vehicle which is required to be licensed and registered by the State of Idaho and is not licensed and registered and is in such condition that it cannot be started or moved under its own power without repair. Derelict vehicles typically leak fluids such as anti-freeze, gasoline and other automotive fluids onto the ground, contaminating the local area.

These vehicles also create an attractive nuisance to children by presenting an enticing, but dangerous, plaything. There are several documented incidents of children becoming locked inside a vehicle and succumbing to the extreme temperatures produced within the vehicle. Inoperative vehicles also detract from neighborhoods appearance and can invite an undesirable element into your community.

2. What weeds am I responsible for?

Property owners are responsible for the weeds from the middle of the alley to the center of the street.

3. Can I remain anonymous when reporting code enforcement violations?

Yes. We do not require that you provide any personal information. Remember that all information you choose to provide to the City, including names, phone numbers, or email addresses, is subject to the Public Record Laws. In other words, we must provide this information to anyone who asks for it. If you wish to remain completely anonymous, do not provide your personal information.

4. What do I do if I've received a notice of violation from Code Enforcement?

If you have any questions about what is required of you to achieve compliance with Kimberly City Code Enforcement, please contact the Community Service Officer (CSO). Their name is listed at the bottom of the notice you received. You can also call our main number at (208) 423-4151 and speak to the CSO.

The goal of Code Enforcement is to preserve the quality and value of public and private property and maintain a high standard of living by eliminating conditions that threaten the life, health, safety, and general welfare of the public.
